Product Specification

XLPE/SWA/PVC BS5467 armoured 1kV multicore cables are designed for fixed power and control use. Also referred to more generally as mains cables, armoured cables, power cables and booklet armoured cables. The steel wire armour provides protection against mechanical damage.

These XLPE/SWA/PVC BS5467 cables are suitable for use indoors, outdoor, running through ducts or for direct burial applications. Often used for mains electricity supply under harsh conditions.

stranded plain annealed copper conductors
cross linked polyethylene (XLPE) core insulation
extruded polyvinylchloride (PVC) bedding
galvanised steel wire armour (SWA)
black PVC outer sheath

 

Technical – XLPE/SWA/PVC BS5467
conductor make-up: class 2 (non-flexible stranded), see Stranding/Resistance page
bend radius: 1.5mm2 to 16mm2 = 6 x overall diameter
  25.0mm2 and above = 8 x overall diameter
voltage rating: 600/1000V operating
current rating: as per SWA 70°C chart or 90°C chart, see Current Ratings page
temperature range: -15°C to +90°C fixed, minimum bending 0°C
construction: generally according to BS5467
flame retardant: according to IEC 60332-1-2
core identification: 2-4 cores = coloured to VDE0293 without earth, see Colour Codes page
5 core = either coloured to VDE0293 with earth, see Colour Codes page
                or alternatively numbered white cores without green/yellow earth
7+ cores = numbered white cores without green/yellow earth
